Celtic Cross
In order to convert the Celtic peoples to Catholicism, Patrick needed to adopt the strategy of adapting some symbols.
This is how the transition of religion happened in a friendly manner.
With this goal in mind, he would have combined the Catholic cross with the solar cross (of Irish origin) to create the Celtic cross, still used today in the celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
Leprechauns
In Celtic culture, from which the Irish people originated, leprechauns are a kind of good-humored elves who repaired the shoes of fairies.
The Saint Patrick's Day celebration rescues this figure from Irish folklore as a way of recalling the origin of the people.
Corned Beef Boiled
This meat dish with cabbage is considered the official dish of St. Patrick's Day, prepared to complement the liters of beer that are consumed.
Three-leaf clover
The plant was already considered by the native Irish people (Celts) as a symbol of good luck.
Therefore, legend has it that, in order to explain the Holy Trinity to pagans, Saint Patrick used the shamrock as a metaphor.
God would be like the three-leaf clover: a unity that is divided into Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
